Brains Dark was for many years the original mainstay of the Brains product range, and rapidly became an important part of Cardiff everyday life. A distinctive ale which is non-cloying, it is easier to drink than many other mild ales. Although Brains Dark has retained its place in the hearts of the people of the capital city, it has found favour much further afield and is now a popular and welcome guest beer around the country. A reputation with cask ale enthusiasts is reflected in the current CAMRA award "Champion Mild of Wales".
A skilful blend of dark and chocolate malts, gives this rich dark mild a full fine flavour. The beer has a delicate hop and chocolate aroma while the palate starts malty with a slight nuttiness, but then gives way to a light dry finish.
